The Fact Folder can be used to collect information from a wide range of sources. Information
such as the web-site address is automatically recorded making it easier to provide the correct
references. When you find information that you would like
to save, highlight it and click on the Fact Folder icon.
The Fact Details Panel appears. This is to record details about the information which
you have just gathered. It will automatically insert the title, which you can edit if you
wish. It will also insert the date, author which you can edit and the source.
To assign this piece of information to a category, click on this icon.
Click on, Add. Give it a name and then click OK.
This category now appears in the Categories list. Select it. Then click on OK.
In the description box you can write a brief description. Then OK.
A pop-up window shows you have added this information to your Fact Folder.
If you wish to add an image from a webpage, select this option from the Fact Folder dropdown.
The Texthelp web hover window appears showing the picture your mouse is over.
When you click on the picture you want to save, the Fact Details Panel appears and you
enter the information you wish to record for this picture.
When you click on OK the popup window shows you have added the picture to your Fact Folder.
To see the information that you have in your Fact Folder, select Review Facts from the
Fact Folder dropdown.
This shows the list of all the facts that have been collected with the title and description.
If you wish to see the facts under a category, select it from this dropdown.
If you want to see what is held in a fact, click on it and you will see it below.
Or you can click on this icon.
If it is text, you can edit it and then click OK.
To change the fact details click on this icon.
Edit the details and then click OK.
To delete any fact from your Fact Folder, select the fact and then click on the Delete
icon.
To put all the information you have gathered in this category into a Word Document, click
on this icon.
Choose the Bibliography format you wish to use and then click OK.
A Word document will be created with all the information you have gathered, and will provide
a Bibliography at the end.
Alternatively you can just select some of the facts you want to use. Then click on this
icon. Again choose the Bibliography format.
A Word document will be created with the information you requested.
With the Fact Folder there is also the ability to create an HTML webpage with the information
if required.
