Hi everyone, are you ready to have some Squidoo fun? You did not expect that, did you? I told
you Im unpredictable. For todays video tutorial I want to talk about the introduction
module. There are some things about the introduction module that we havent talked about. I have
just woken up and my day has started really, really well. I have made myself a perfect
cup of coffee and I am really enjoying it, and I have this beautiful desktop background.
You can see a sunrise, and its really soothing really and helps me wake up. I don't like
mornings in general, I'm a bigger fan of afternoons so I might sound a bit sleepy but I'm not.
So, lets start with our video tutorial. As Ive said, were going to talk about
the introduction module. Lets open any lens and here's this one here. You see here,
there is the introduction module and there is really a lot to talk about when it comes
to the introduction module. It is not all about citing the images and finding the right
picture for your introduction module, but it is also about the content that you put
in this box. If your lens was a human, then the introduction module would be its head
and the rest of the modules that you add to your lens and the theme that you select for
your lens are its body and its clothes. You can see my point about. Without a head, it
is just a body so you need both of these parts in order to make your lens complete. Ive
already talked about this; the introduction module is a built-in module, so you have to
have it, in the same manner women have to have a great pair of shoes, or a little black
dress. When it comes to men, I don't know anything that men must have. Its always
women that have to have something, but in my opinion, men should have a great sense
of humor and confidence. Thats a bit off-topic, but well now get back to our tutorial.
What I wanted to talk to you about it in this video tutorial is the content that you use
in the introduction module, and here is where the greatest number of mistakes happen. People
don't cite the images properly as there are no fields to copy and paste the image URL,
they fail to find a clear, and crisp, and beautiful picture, interesting picture to
use as the intro photo, and one of the biggest mistakes is that they tell too much in their
introduction module. That is one of the biggest donts because if you tell your reader what
your lens is all about at the very beginning, they will not have a reason to continue reading
your lens as they already know what is going to happen. So, you should come up with a solution,
with an introduction where you will say something about lens, and try not to reveal too much
or too little, but just enough so that your reader becomes interested in reading more.
When your readers read your introduction module, they should be really, really engaged and
they should sound like this Im so excited, and I just cant hide it, and Im about
to lose control and I think I like it. So your readers should be excited about the lens
they are about to read and hopefully thats your lens, and you have the perfect introduction
module, so that they keep on reading your lens. If you have a story about a boy who
really loves oranges and you write that in your introduction module. If you write that
he never had enough money to buy oranges, and then he found a job and bought himself
a lot of oranges, then your readers basically know the plot, know the story, and they wont
have a reason to continue reading your lens. So, you should not give out all the details.
So, this is what you shouldnt do. What you should do, on the other hand, write lets
say highlights of your content. So, if you have a lens about oranges then you might want
to say something like - In this lens we are going to talk about oranges, what are the
health benefits of oranges; Maybe you can write something like - I will also reveal
to you some secrets about oranges, some facts about oranges that you did not know, some
unusual uses oranges and so forth. So, that is some kind of an outline of your introduction
module. Except for the fact that your readers should be really interested in your lens after
reading the introduction they should also want to come back to your lens and read it
over and over again. I think about it over and over again. Yes, they should read it over
and over again. This is a tutorial, and this is a type of lens people usually get back
to as if you have some important information about how to do something, how to use a module
on Squidoo, people may come back to take a look at this lens over and over again in case
there is a lot of information, a lot of useful information. Thats it for this video tutorial.
Thank you so much for listening, thank you so much for watching and I will see you very
soon. Bye, bye!
