Hi, I'm Amy Traverso, Lifestyle Editor at
Yankee Magazine. I have a quick kitchen tip for you today about peeling apples.
When I was working on "The Apple Lover's Cookbook," I had to peel a lot of apples, and I came
up with a technique that I think is faster and more efficient. So, to start, you can
use any peeler. I like this Good Grip kind of model, but lots of people have their
own favorites. The trick here is you want to do the round parts first. You
go around the top and peel that part, and the shoulders, and then you do the same thing
on the bottom. And then what you can do is just peel down the sides. It allows you to
go more quickly and use the same movements for each part of the apple, instead of cutting
the curved part and going down to the bottom. And that's it. It really doesn't take long,
and if you're going to make a crisp or a pie or anything like that, you're going to be
peeling a lot. Hope that makes your kitchen prep faster, and for more tips, you
can go to YankeeMagazine.com.
