It is a job of passion, I feel very lucky, I get to meet other artists, exchange with our clients.
It is a very fulfilling job.
The human side matters a lot in our line of work,
and what I cherish most is surprise, the unexpected turn projects can take along the way.
There is also quite an input of personal emotions and feelings, and I like to share these, so I enjoy it, really.
Many different things inspire me, such as chefs and how they cook, nature, always, or our ingredients.
It is not easy to analyse where an original idea comes from.
It can come out of the blue. Travelling is very inspiring, it is one vital source of inspiration.
Results are always a surprise, a blend can be a huge success, or not, you can never know, and you keep learning.
A fragrance can be chosen at an early stage, and be put in bottle with all its rough strength,
or it can keep evolving, non stop, as we shape it further. Anything is possible.
«Attempt» is the one word we use most.
Attempts on the artistic front, attempts that mean hard work, and that make you humble.
I love what Alberto Giacometti once said: «My work is nothing but a series of attempts»,
because this is exactly what perfumery is about.
