Once you determine that you have an armadillo
in the vicinity or in the yard,
either by spotting the armadillo or by his diggings,
they’re usually pretty easily caught.
You can use a live trap
and I recommend the live trap with openings on both ends.
You just need to put some wings, could be boards,
could be fencing, on each side of the trap
to funnel the armadillo down into the trap.
They’re not real intelligent animals;
they’re very easily trapped.
They usually will follow those boards or the fencing
as they’re feeding and funnel right into the trap.
I would suggest putting the trap out without any bait.
I have found that usually you don’t need any bait at all.
Their eyesight’s not very good so they’re really not looking
for the barriers or for the wings.
And once they get to feeding
and get concentrated on what they’re doing
they will funnel right down through your trap.
If you have an armadillo trapped you can relocate the armadillo.
I would recommend wearing a pair of gloves
and try not to handle the armadillo if possible.
Armadillos aren’t aggressive animals.
If they are transported and released,
you really don’t have to worry about them being aggressive
or attacking or anything of that nature.
I would just recommend relocating the animal
at least five miles from where it was trapped and releasing it
in a remote area away from homes and populated areas.
