Hi, I'm Rob Smedley, Race Engineer for Scuderia Ferrari,
and this is the Inside Track to India.
[INSIDE TRACK INDIA 27.10.2013 LAPS 60]
[LENGTH 5.125km TURNS 16]
Marc Gené: India is one of the modern circuits
where the circuit designer tried to pick the best corners around the world,
and he put them together.
Fernando Alonso: There is only the long straight at the back of the circuit
that offers you the opportunity to overtake - so a lot of action in the race.
Marc Gené: You need a really good car in all areas,
Slow, Medium and high-speed corners.
Rob Smedley: The modern breed of circuits
have definitely overtaking in mind,
and the KERS technology and the DRS technology
absolutely compliment that.
Guy Lovett: If we're able to deliver a fuel or oil
that can give just a few more horsepower,
that can really be the difference
between an overtaking move being successful or not.
Stefano Domenicali: The first mood that you have
when you see the start and overtaking is,
"OK, let's hope the overtaking is going well."
And then when you see that the overtaking is done,
then, "OK, let's go for the other one."
Mark Wakem: The lubricant plays its part
in providing maximum performance,
so helping reduces losses inside the engine,
more horsepower available coming out of the engine
to be used for driving the car, giving it the overtaking performance.
Mike Evans: We work hard there with Ferrari
to make sure the fuel gives really good performance at the top end,
towards 18,000rpm down the long straight.
Fernando Alonso: It's a circuit to enjoy and to have a good show on Sunday.
