Hi, I'm Marcus Francis with the Georgia Tech Human Resources benefits department, and I'm
here to introduce you to the four medical plans offered in 2014. The same four plans
will be available for 2014. They include three BCBS plans - the HSA Open Access POS, the
Open Access POS, the BlueChoice HMO. The system will also offer the Kaiser HMO plan. Although
the plans will remain the same for 2014, the co-pays and deductibles will change. There
is also a rate change of the Kaiser HMO of approximately 4%.
When enrolling in any of the four medical plans, you must certify if you are a tobacco
user. A $50 monthly surcharge will be added to your monthly premium if you or any dependents
age 18 or older are tobacco users. All employees must certify their tobacco use when enrolling.
If you do not certify and you are a non-user, a $50 non-refundable monthly surcharge will
be added to your medical premium.
Open enrollment provides an opportunity for you to evaluate your benefits. We encourage
you to take advantage of the annual event. For example, the HSA Open Access POS plan
may provide you with significant savings on medical spending, your contributions are matched
by the USG for $375 employee only and $750 if you have family coverage. This may be a
good time to explore your medical options.
If you have any questions, we encourage you to visit our benefits fair as well as our
campus information sessions throughout this fall. And as always, if you have any questions
for us at the benefits department, we will be glad to assist. Thank you for watching.
