This was one of the recommendations of the Coroner
who looked into the death of Nia Glassie
who was subjected to the abuse of her step-father's family.
Jane Kopua works for Family Start,
she says that it's up to mothers to seek assistance for their baby,
and perhaps there's a need to revive some old practices.
The aim of the Child Matters Conference
is to create a line of communication
amongst social services to find some solutions.
To assist our families that we know do not take care of our children.
A major issue that has been discussed at length,
but the aim is to advance those discussions.
