Abuse. Neglect. Abandonment.
These injustices happen daily worldwide.
But the most extreme afflictions happen to those with disabilities.
Cause 4 Life is on a mission to fight those injustices.
Interns from around the world travel to remote locations
to seek those in greatest need.
They were on a journey to Love
Heal, and Defend those with disabilities.
Bringing the light of hope to those in dark places.
This is their journey.
We went to go visit
a little boy named Dennis.
As soon as the van pulled in
there were just children that were swarming
and they were all so happy to see us.
Hey, what's up!
It was awesome to meet Dennis and his family and be surrounded by all these
children in their neighborhood.
Nice to meet you, Dennis.
We saw him in his brand new wheelchair.
This is nice, man. This is the
Rolls Royce of chairs right here.
His wonderful mother was there and
so proud to introduce us to Dennis.
The children just surrounded us, and there was probably fifty or
sixty of them.
You have lots of friends here.
The whole team was kind of caught off guard because we didn't know how to have a
one-on-one conversation with Dennis
and his mother. So we began to sing.
To be able to be surrounded by all these children and sing Jesus Loves Me
in Acholi
it was just really an uplifting and encouraging experience for us all.
The team led worship
involving Dennis which meant that God
does the same thing.
Not only were we worshiping God, but at the same time
all of those fifty or sixty children saw the attention that we were giving to Dennis.
We showed the children in the community that
God
includes, involves
and loves all of us.
I was in a wheelchair and Francis was in a wheelchair,
and Dennis wasn't the only one.
Dennis definitely knew that God loves him, but God brought the rest of the children so we
could show all of them that God loves Dennis.
A lot of the children we've seen that have disabilities, their father is no longer in the
picture.
In many situations
the men end up sending away
or divorcing their wives, and the women
go with the children
with a disability.
Most of the stories we heard
had either abandonment by mother or father or both.
And we didn't really know if Dennis' father was
in the picture.
But when
God's word
makes it into the men's hearts
we've found a lot of them change.
They understand that the children
that they have with a disability are created in the image of God, and we saw this
when we visited little Dennis.
Later after we'd done some worship with the children
his father came and was all smiles.
His father didn't leave.
They are all still together.
He also said that he was a Christian and
as a Christian he
he'd read the Bible, he'd been to church, he'd realized that
God has special purpose for Dennis.
We went to church the next day and found
him there
which was really cool to see him again
see him at church, see that he now has the mobility to get
into God's house and worship.
And to just see this whole family who love Jesus worshipping together was truly
a blessing.
So Dennis has an opportunity to have a mother
and a father
and a happy family
caring for him.
Which is not something that we've seen here
and that that was
really powerful. And they can definitely be an example for families all across the
world.
