What's up guys!
That this year's SWU Music and Arts Festival will be in Paulínia, you already know.
But what do you know about the Paulínia, what do you know about the city?
Exactly, well, we are going to talk to the Secretary of Culture here in Paulínia,
Emerson Alvez, who will tell us everything we need to know, lets go?
First of all, Secretary, thank you for seeing us, seeing our audience at the SWU portal,
I start by asking you the following:
The 2011 SWU Music & Arts Festival will be here, at Paulínia, why?
What does Paulínia have, that other cities don't?
Ok, so first of all, it's very cool to talk to your guys from the SWU, which will take place here in Paulínia.
In truth, Paulínia is a city that has a very strong investment in culture,
today we are involved in almost all great Brazilian movies, being produced here, actually in right here were we are.
And infrastructure, I think infrastructure is very important, people are going to come to Paulínia,
but are very close to Campinas, very close to Barão Geraldo, where UNICAMP is, where PUC is.
So it’s the joining of all of this,
the cultural investment and infrastructure that makes Paulínia the perfect combination for those who come here.
Paulínia has a great cinematographic nucleus, which helped boost and accelerate the whole city's economy.
What fruits for the community, for those who live in Paulínia, have come from this cinematographic nucleus?
Today, for you to have an idea, we have young people in Paulínia, that have, in the last three years,
worked in 14 or 15 Brazilian films, in the areas of production, in the areas of art and cenography etc.
In Brazil, a professional, to have this many films on their curriculum, would take a dozen years.
So the city began to attract young talents, because the national production is here.
So today they can live in Paulínia, or in the region,
and come here and work in great Brazilian movies, like Chico Xavier, Tropa de Elite.
Tell me something, Secretary, what is the Sustainable District?
Do you know what is the Sustainable District? What is the Sustainable District?
The Sustainable District is an extremely important effort that Paulínia is going to be putting into effect
these next few years which is to create a planned neighborhood,
and sustainable economic enterprise, what do we want to show with this Sustainable District?
What are the good sustainable practices today, for construction, water and energy use,
public transportation, bikeways, which can be easily implanted and replicated,
and all the while keeping the entertainment component which we will have with the SWU Festival
and the events we already have here.
Never before did a city think about making an automated garbage collection system available,
like the one in Barcelona. And from this, if this experiment works,
we will replicate it for all other neighborhoods in town and who knows,
maybe even spreading it throughout the country, and we can discuss how the government
can improve public services in order to become more sustainable with time, I think this is our challenge.
We are here in July 2011, what is the prediction for this Sustainable District to leave paper?
Our idea is that in twelve months we will already have chosen the projects, and from that point on we begin investing.
Who knows, maybe in November at the SWU Festival we might have something to show you.
And the SWU Music and Arts Festival will bring in November of this year, approximately 200,000 people here to Paulínia.
Is the city ready to receive this many people? And what are these people going to find?
Well, I don’t think there is a city with as much infrastructure, so well positioned as ours, for those who don't know Paulínia,
the place, the area where the SWU Arena will be located is only 5km off the Bandeirantes Highway,
and beside, a little over 5 km away from UNICAMP, a college town, a center of local universities.
And we have many entrances into town from the location of the event,
all of them very well signalized, with two lanes, so the arrival here is very easy,
and in terms of accessibility, the bus station,
because there are buses to São Paulo, to Campinas only 1km from the festival location.
You can just walk from the bus stop into the arena it's very easy to get here.
And those you come on bicycles, we are working with the SWU production team to include many bikeways
and special access to come here, and access the city's parks, we have many parks,
there is an enormous green area here and we would also like our visitors to take a look around.
Secretary, thank you very much. SWU 2011, its coming up!
