Tonight we have to make a move, we have a "party" to do!
Right?
Right?
A party only we know how to do.
We'd like you to be quiet inside the bus, mouths shut.
We'd also like you to be absolutely silent after we get into the "party room".
Because, God willing, they'll only know we're there tomorrow.
In the centre there are 450 000 empty properties
that perform no social function.
And when we go to occupy,
we are not saying that we have to confront the police,
our struggle is peaceful.
Very peaceful.
Occupy the empty building that isn't functioning,
where the owner owes millions in taxes.
We are homeless, low income families and they want rich people.
They want to turn this portion of São Paulo into a sort of Paulista Avenue,
for rich people.
I lived in Itapevi before knowing the housing movement.
I used to wake up at three in the morning to get to work by seven.
Living in the centre is great.
This building at Mauá Street was abandoned for 17 years,
until it was occupied by 237 families
that have lived here for five years.
A thousand people, ten thousand people, a hundred thousand people,
socially it can make an impact.
It has made an impact.
But the one thing is,
the judiciary has to stick to the written law.
If people were moved out of here today,
if they sent us away,
children would be left without school because they are enrolled here,
and they wouldn't be able to study anymore.
City Hall does not care.
I think the role of the police is not to protect the public's assets,
They should protect the families, because our struggle is for our rights.
What are the rights of a home owner?
What does the right of ownership mean?
This has to be analysed.
You can't favour one right over the other.
The law has to prevail.
You have no right to be near the hospital or the train station.
You have no right to be near the subway or five minutes from your work.
You end up living far away without rights.
Now you live in a place they want to take from you because they want to build a mall.
Theoretically you're hindering the progress.
This doesn't mean people should lower their heads
and say, "Amen, amen."
If you are with us until the end of the fight, raise your hand.
Your raised hands register a commitment, a responsibility.
This fight will not done for you, it will be done by you.
Who does not struggle...
is dead!
Who does not struggle...
is dead!
Come on guys!
Come on, come on!
We have to be quick! Come on, come on!
Come on, quickly!
The police are coming! Come on, come on!
Come on, people! There is room for everybody!
