Welcome to a tour of the newly released game mode, Arms Race. I am MeKick, and I will be
giving a runthrough of how to play, and details you should know
before entering a match of Arms Race. Let's get started.
Arms Race is very similar to One Man Army in the sense that your goal is to reach 15
kills, 30 kills, or 45 kills before any of the other players in
the room. The catch, however, is that you will NOT have access to
any of your guns or support gear. What will happen instead is that as soon as you get
in game, you will automatically be given a random Assault
Rifle, where you will have to get a certain number of kills to move on to the next gun,
which may or may not be of a different category.
The number of kills you will need with each weapon, and the weapon class you need to jump
to, varies based on the victory condition. For example, a 15-kill game would have you
using an assault rifle until you get four kills, where you will then move to a submachine
gun for three kills.
As you climb the ladder of weapons, it is a one-way trip and you can not go
back down to a lower stage.
In each kill goal, I have compiled a list of how many kills you need with each weapon
class tier AND how many times you have to use each weapon
class.
This list goes in order from the start of the match, where
you will always have an assault rifle, to its conclusion, where you will need to use
an M69HE Grenade or your melee weapon to secure the final kill.
No matter what map or server you play on, you are going to be looking at an order of
Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Machine Guns, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles,
Pistols, and then your final kill will always need to be with either your grenade or your
knife.
Once a player has gone through every set of weapons which they are given, they win
the game. Note that there is no time limit in Arms Race, meaning that the only way to
win is to fight it out until someone reaches the set goal.
You may be wondering what weapons are available for use in Arms Race. First of all, I am going
to point out that you can freely choose which melee weapon you
bring into the match. Whichever choice you pick
out will always be available to you in-game, regardless of what stage you are in.
A kill with your melee weapon is treated as one kill towards your current weapon class.
It is possible to get any gun, excluding Demonic Weapons, in each of the weapon categories.
This includes forged weapons, NX-Epics, and rank unlocks.
However, GP Standard weapons are much more common than the other categories. On the flip
side, NX-Rare and NX-Epic weapons are quite quite uncommon, so don't expect to get a Baron's
M416 CQB on your first game.
When playing Arms Race, you are stuck with the gun you are given and cannot pick up any weapons off
of dead bodies.
Another note to make is that it is possible to get the same gun twice (although, obviously,
it is highly unlikely that this will occur, considering the
vast range of guns in the game).
The guns that you get come without any modifications, unless the modifications have already been pre-attached
onto the weapon, as is the case with the iTech Reflex Sight on the M416 CQB.
Before going into a match, you CAN pick out your melee weapon and the gear you want to use.
In other words, the choice between full speed
gear or a Hauser is all up to your preference, and will affect your gameplay as usual. KDR/HP
Vision is usable in game, as well as abilities, assuming
that the option for the latter is actually turned on.
When you have reached the final tier, you are immediately marked for the rest of the
match, no matter where you are or what you are doing. All of
your opponents can see your name tag through walls, similar to in
Spy Hunt, and you can be seen on their maps and minimaps. Both of these are in real-time,
meaning that they will know where you are even if you hide or move
from place to place.
At this point, you might be thinking to yourself, "well, this is pretty cool. Where can I play
this? How can this game mode be played?"
To answer the "where" half of the question, Arms Race can be played on any server, including Papa and Black Market.
As for the "how", the victory condition can be toggled between acquiring 15 kills,
30 kills, and even 45 kills to win. The number of players you can play with range from a minimum
from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 16. The maps available to it are the same ones
which can be played in One Man Army. With that said, you can expect to
see Arms Race played in Junk Flea, Lunar Labs, Quantum Labs, and other maps which are used
in free for all combat. Note that regardless of what map you play,
the weapon class list will always remain the same.
The Join Mid Combat, Kill Cam, and Abilities settings can be turned on and off.
However, Friendly Fire will always be on when playing Arms Race, and the option to turn on Super Soldiers is not available.
Overall, Arms Race is a great addition into Combat Arms. It keeps the game fresh, and
has opened a whole new set of opportunities for new players and old players alike.
New players can try out guns which are not normally available to
them, which makes it easier for them to try and contend with opponents who could be more
experienced or have access to better gear. Older players can take
on a new challenge by trying to prove themselves with all of the
gun classes in the game, rather than being stuck with using just their permanent weapons.
Since this mode will automatically outfit you with guns of a random choice, you
do not have to worry about spending GP or NX for a decent gun to try and battle your
enemies. Instead, just drop in for some matches of Arms Race, and
make GP for no charge at all, without being hindered by your weapon's
capabilities.
With that said, I am nearing the end of this video. I hope you found this introduction
to Arms Race entertaining and informative, and I thank you for watching. If you enjoyed watching,

our other videos, such as the reviews we've released on the Old Glory and the Maple Leaf
sniper rifles.
Thank you all for watching, and have a fun time playing Arms Race.
