Imagine a degree where one minute you're studying the art of reading and writing
through the words of iconic figures like Barack Obama, to the next minute
when you're exploring uses of the body in religion, *** and advertising.
And then the next minute you're travelling to a leading international university to study for a year.
All these opportunities and more form a part of our liberal arts degree.
Whereas a single honours degree like History or Geography or English leads you down a single subject path,
Liberal Arts gives you the opportunity to study a variety of subjects across the humanities and social sciences
enabling you to pursue several different paths and giving you a better understanding of the global context in which we live today.
So as part of a Liberal Arts degree, you'll develop your intellectual skills as a critical reader and a persuasive writer,
examining ancient forms of writing as well as modern day forms such as tabloid journalism and blogging.
You'll get hands on training in laboratory work and scientific analysis
as you explore the social, economic and political debates surrounding food production and consumption.
And you'll test your own cultural assumptions and bias and learn to think critically about western values
as you analyse and debate the uses of the body today, from circumcision, organ donation,
tattooing and attitudes to the dead.
What's more, you won't be stuck in the lecture theatre;
you'll have the opportunity to travel overseas to study in a leading international university.
You'll have the experience of running your own think tank and you can develop
your CV through a work placement. And the best bit...?
You can choose to specialise in the areas that really interest you.
A degree in Liberal Arts will make you stand out from the crowd,
it will equip you with the flexible skills and problem solving abilities highly sought by employers
and it will inspire you and make you think in entirely different ways about the world we live in.
