My name is Tres Tew. I'm an instructor here at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf
of Expert Village, today I'm going to be talking to you a little bit today about stick fighting
or Escrima stick fighting. Now we are going to be talking about how to use two Escrima
sticks to defend someone who's got a longer stick. Maybe they've picked up a sign or something,
I don't know. In today's world, bows...it's not very often you come across one. But it's
good to know the different reaches and things of that nature. So Nick is going to come in
with an overhead strike, maybe it's an ax or something. We're using the X block and
pushing it out of the way. With this one, it's just rolling out and hooking the hand
and then rolling over and striking with the butt and then coming with two strikes to the
knee. One more time: hook, strike, strike, strike. So that's how to use two Escrima sticks
versus a bow. Just keep in mind the range difference. The reach is what you want to
focus on when you are training against someone with a longer stick.
