So the first thing you need to know about learning English
Or Any other second Language is where the information in your brain is
kept so, the faculty of speech is kept in the left
hemisphere When you try to learn a second language
You usually translate from your maternal language to the new language
If you get inside and MRI (Magnetic Imaging Resolution)
One of those machines they put you in to see your brain activity
When you speak a second language your whole brain lights up
And so, what we are going to do is to put the information in that left hemisphere and
not translate When you listen to somebody
You try to imitate and reproduce the sounds they make
Using your own sounds. Your mouth movements all of those sounds you already know
Using your maternal language to speak English That is not right, because some times
In English you do not change the sounds at all, you just move your tong and that produces
new sounds I am going to give you and example
Tall First sound I say i s TA--
and then at the end of the sound, to finish I move my tongue to the ruff of my mouth behind
my upper front teeth to produce the right word and sound
see? But I don't change the sound at all, The sound is the same all the time
I always say TA-- the only thing I do is to move my tongue
and say TALL. See? because the sound is the same TALL
and That would be T A L L right?
NOW if you hear someone saying TALL You might try to do something like TAL
because you hear that second sound and you want to do the same, but using your
Spanish Accent to speak English Now Say TALL
tall Know Make it a little longer
Tall Great you got it!
Repeat it five more times No, Do the sound with out the L
know move your tongue behind your upper front teeth like this
with that same sound Tall
Right, that is it, you got it!
