I saw Tiesto at the 2004 Olympic Games,
which was my first contact with the trends electronic music.
I began listening to it, started saving for a DJ set,
and installed music programmes on my computer.
And from then onwards things got a lot more serious.
I was at a technical school preparing for further education,
but I was doing so many shows that I didn't have much time for school.
A friend of mine was already enrolled in this school.
I sent them an e-mail and they took me on.
I passed my first year and went straight on to the third year.
Welcome, nice to see you all again.
Today we're going to look at music in advertising.
This school is a much better school for what I want to do.
If I'm really worn out on a Monday morning,
I can stay at home. That wasn't possible at my other school.
They give the general subjects, but it's basically career-oriented.
Today's assignment is to compose music for this advert.
I want it finished by noon on Friday and delivered in the dropbox.
So, she just told us that I have until Friday to send in my music.
However, I'm off to Surinam tomorrow.
So, I have to hand it in earlier.
That sounded good.
I'm often here, but I also like to work at home.
Luckily, the school hours fit into my planning.
I shut myself in the cubicle,
turn my phone off and get down to work.
I sometimes use a keyboard at home.
I enter the notes manually. Take a closer look.
What I'm doing here is just like on a real keyboard.
What I'm entering are the notes that will be played.
Everyone composes in their own way. Some use you a midi keyboard,
but I find this way much nicer.
I'm off. - Bye.
Finished? I guess not. - I'm working on it.
I'll send it to you just as soon as I can.
See you next week. - Right.
Bye. - Bye.
This is Spinnin' Records who handle my music.
We've got to record for a radio show, listen to my new tracks,
and probably fine-tune them.
If the music business starts to decline and I get less bookings,
I want to be a full-time producer for other artists and pop acts.
My sister plays violin, piano and sings.
My mother plays piano, my father guitar and I play too.
We all grew up with music in the home.
My parents have even started listening to my music,
and even give me tips and advice for my tracks.
It's great that they're behind me.
When I changed schools they could have said:
Finish school, stop doing the shows, school comes first.
They saw I was doing what I really wanted to do.
They just said: Go and do your thing.
And it's going really well up until now.
