If you borrow an item from the library, it will normally be issued for four weeks.
The only exceptions are items in Key Texts, and items designated 'reference use only'.
Loan periods adjust automatically depending on demand for items. If something is heavily
requested, it's issued for a shorter period.
This means that you won't have to wait as long for an item that's already out on loan
and you need to use it.
If someone else requests something you've borrowed you'll be asked to return it sooner.
The library will email you with the new date.
Fines are only used if a requested item is late.
They are there to act as a deterrent so that other people won't inconvenience you by keeping
hold of something that you have requested.
The aim is to have zero fines and nothing returned late.
You need to keep in touch and let the library know if you're having any problems returning
a book or getting to the library.
You should check your library account and your email regularly, so that you know when
things are due back.
Remember, this can change if someone else requests an item that you have.
