The US Army Joint Munitions Command
is the Department of Defense executive agent for ammunition,
providing all conventional ammunition from small caliber bullets to megaton bombs,
with delivery to all a military services.
JMC is diverse, dynamic and global,
supporting the joint warfighter with ammunition and expertise around the world.
I deal with day-to-day munitions to include bombs, rockets, missiles, small arms.
Our job contributes to the overall mission in Afghanistan
because we have our planes out there
putting air support for our Army troops on the ground.
That's the biggest benefit is that
J in there, that joint piece
is what really makes
JMC invaluable in the way we operate.
And we can’t afford to just send the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard
these big checks to just do whatever they feel they need to do.
We’ve got to work together to get
the best products out there
as quickly as possible,
at the right cost and the right quality.
JMC manages a nationwide network of installations
and facilities where conventional ammunition is produced, stored, and shipped as needed.
As Department of Defense animation experts the Joint Munitions Command
makes a global impact
through continuous modernization and support to the warfighter,
with ammunition on time, every time.
Through centralized ammunition management JMC uses automated systems
to manage ammunition stocks to ensure stockpile readiness.
LARS are ammo experts. JMC deploys Logistics Ammunitions Representative to the field
where they're embedded with units around the globe, sharing their expertise.
JMC also manages the Defense Ammunition Center where tomorrow's ammo experts are being trained
today.
There are so many variables when we're out
doing our mission underway out of the water and definitely assault waters environment. So many
things can happen, so many things can break and the ammunition that we’re supplied by DoD
is definitely a constant. It's accurate, reliable and consistent and we definitely count
on it every day.
While I was deployed in the Kunar province of Afghanistan, ammunition, I was in a combat zone, is a necessity.
As far as engagements, the ammunition was always there. I was confident
that it was going to perform and help me complete my mission.
I've been around ammunition and ordnance my whole career in the Navy, and it’s always worked.
And until recently, a year ago, I didn’t realize that most of it comes through JMC.
As far as supply goes for ammo, we had it.
I mean the supply guy would do the request, like I said, when we first came into Iraq
they signed us over our ammo, extra ammo, and we already had enough ammo,
so requesting ammo at a pin drop wasn’t too bad.
It was there when we needed it.
Getting the right ammunition to the right place, on time, every time.
Ready. Reliable.
