Um...This song is pretty important to me.
Um...It's kinda the only song that I talk about. I feel like
talking about songs is weird and awkward for everyone.
When I wrote this song, I wrote this song in a Monday in February, last year. Um...And I wrote it following this weekend when me and my sister and our best friend threw this
huge house party at my place. (Crowd cheers) Like the kind of house party where
people are eating all the *** out of your refrigerator and your freezer. Like defrosting
things in your microwave...pieces of fish and chicken and dumplings. And um...everyone
crashed at my house...in the floor of every room. And there was one guy who came around after lights out, just kind of annoying everyone, that one guy, you know.
Um...and, he crashed with me and my best friend in my bed
and I couldn't sleep and we both had places
to be in the morning, I had to be in the studio, and he, he's like, "What is it?" and I was like,
"What we just did is cool. It's cool. You know, doing this thing, throwing this house party. It's something adult.
And there's something incredibly scary about doing something that is in a different world to the
one you know. My whole life I've been doing my things, the things that kids do:
*** around and not having any responsibility. (Crowd cheers) It's scared me to think of having one foot in that
adult world because...who says, that we can go back? Like, can you be a kid and
still do adult things? (Crowd cheers) Like, do you have to leave that world behind?
And this is the thought that keeps me up at night all the time. It keeps me...*** terrified
(Crowd cheers) because I don't know anything except how to be a kid. I don't know what to do
in this other world, not yet. And I know that a lot of you here are my age or similar
(Crowd cheers) It blows me away every single night to think that you could be here filling up
this room, listening to the songs that I've written for myself and nobody but me, that
comfort me, that feel warm to me, and soft...And you guys wanna hear that.
