Running software updates on your Mac - Mac tutorials
Hi my name is Andrew and I’m
your Human Manual. In this tutorial we’ll show you how to run software updates on your
Mac.
Ordinarily your Mac will go and check for the latest version of your operating system.
We are running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. If you have missed your software update notification
that’s ok because you can force the computer to go and run a check.
Click the Apple menu icon found at the top left of your screen.
Now click on Software update.
Please note that you’ll need to be connected to the internet for this to work successfully.
After a few minutes your computer should come back with a list of all available updates.
Please also note that it can and will only check the operating system and the standard
core applications like iMovie, QuickTime Player, iPhoto, Photo Booth and many others.
You’ll need to download any updates and follow on the on screen instructions to install
any updates. Note that when make major changes to your computer you’ll be required to enter
your computer password. This password is the same as the one you use to log into your computer.
This just ensures that you as the computer admin are the person who wants to install these updates.
Have fun exploring and learning more about your Mac.
We hope by now you are feeling more familiar and comfortable with your Apple Mac computer
