This is Vietnam, a country that has borders with China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west.
Vietnam is bounded by the East Sea with the coastline measuring over 3,000km
and is home to the Paracel Islands and Spratly Islands.
The country includes Northern Vietnam, Central Vietnam and Southern Vietnam.
Northern Vietnam is divided into 2 regions: the northern mountainous region and the Red River Delta.
The northern mountainous region is home to 30 ethnic minorities.
Major attractions include majestic sceneries, beautiful green rice terraces (from May to November),
authentic villages and markets of ethnic groups in Sapa.
If you are interested in an unconventional tour with various encounters, this is truly an ideal destination.
The Red River Delta is the cradle of civilization of Vietnam.
The Kinh people account for 90% percent of the entire Vietnamese population
who lived here before the XII century, stretching towards the Mekong delta.
Regarding landscape, Northern Vietnam is typical of rolling rice fields.
It can't be forgotten the magnificent beauty of Ha Long Bay and Tam Coc, a region often referred to as «Ha Long Bay on land».
Major interests of these regions lie in their historical monuments, temples, rural lives and local markets.
Central Vietnam includes 2 parts: the western mountainous region stretching nearly 1,000 km
which is home to different hill tribes and the Coastal plain which is mostly home to the Kinh.
It is more difficult to access the mountainous region of Central Vietnam than Northern Vietnam.
The landscape of the mountainous region has undergone little change due to the development of industrial tree plantations and sparse population.
The coastal plain of Central Vietnam is divided into 2 major cultural spaces:
The Vietnamese in the north and the Cham in the south
with various vestiges of ancient constructions, culture and religion, especially at Hue and Hoi An.
Along the coastline lie many resorts such as Lang Co, Hoi An, Nha Trang and Mui Ne.
Southern Vietnam is mainly formed by the Mekong Delta.
Rice fields, coconut tree-surrounded villages, diverse canals, floating villages
that form the local landscape have emerged over the past few decades.
Are you ready for the trip? Let's go!
Now, it's time to talk about tours to Vietnam
Based on tourism terminology, it's divided into 3 tour types: Exploration trip; Off-the-beaten-track trip; and Adventure trip
The first tour type is called « Exploration trip » which will lead you to the most famous nature and culture destinations.
This tour is considered to be a must.
The classic tour lasts 10 days.
Its itinerary is: Hanoi (2 nights) -- Ha Long (1 night onboard the ship) -- return to Hanoi by car -- drive or fly to Hue (2 nights) --
Hoi An (1 or 2 nights) -- fly to Ho Chi Minh City (2 nights) -- Mekong Delta with a visit to the floating market (1 night).
This itinerary can start from Hanoi and end at Ho Chi Minh city or vice versa.
Regarding this tour, it is possible to modify or add some other destinations based on time availability and demand:
Tam Coc or Ha Long Bay if you want to discover the landscape of the Red River Delta.
Sapa or Bac Ha if you want to meet ethnic minorities and to participate in traditional colorful markets.
Mai Chau if you want to explore the mountain scenery in the north without travelling for a long distance.
You can add a resort in Central Vietnam or Northern Vietnam to your trip
such as Nha Trang (from Hoi An) or Phu Quoc (from Ho Chi Minh city)
Alternatively, you can extend your trip with the culture of Cambodia with a visit to the renowned Angkor Temple.
The second tour type is called an« off-the-beaten-track » trip
which includes must-see destinations for a more authentic experience and interaction with the locals.
This tour type can be operated at the northernmost point, the Central Highlands or the Mekong Delta.
At the northernmost point
You can tour the entire Northern Vietnam from the Northwest to the Northeast in 3 weeks:
Ha Noi -- Son La -- Lai Chau -- Sapa -- Bac Ha -- Ha Giang -- *** Van, Cao *** -- Lang Son -- Ha Long -- Hanoi
You can also choose the itinerary that lasts from 7 to 10 days to visit the most notable tourist spots:
Itinerary 1: Travel from Hanoi to Sapa across the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
The itinerary ends at Bac Ha markets and you return to Hanoi by car or train
Itinerary 2: Travel directly from Hanoi to Ha Giang with a visit to *** Van -- Bao Lac.
Return to Hanoi before ending up at the Ba Be National Park
You can also modify the 2 --week trip by adding the following destinations:
Hanoi -- Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range -- Sapa -- Bac Ha -- Ha Giang -- *** Van -- Bao Lac -- Ba Be -- Hanoi.
The main attractions of this tour lie in beautiful sceneries and ethnic minorities with their well-maintained, ancient customs.
In Central Vietnam, it's possible to plan an « off-the beaten-track » tour
that passes through the Central Highlands, starting from Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City.
There are numerous specific destinations and the tour can last from several days up to 10 days.
The most recommended itinerary is that you fly from Da nang to Buon Ma Thuot, visit some tourist sites en-route
such as waterfalls, Lak Lake and villages of ethnic minorities
before descending to Dak Nong for a flight to Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang.
At the Mekong Delta, the «off-the-beaten-track» tour includes «2-day-1-night» cruise.
It will visit the local villages where you can bike, the orchards where you can walk,
or the floating markets where you can take the sampan cruise.
The third tour type is an « adventure» trip, i.e a special itinerary
that can take from several days up to 10 days with different level of difficulty.
This tour is operated mainly at Bac Ha, Ha Giang and Cao ***.
If you are interested in a beach holiday, it can't be forgotten that Vietnam has many famous beaches
with modern and well-developed hotel chains such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Con Dao and especially Phu Quoc.
It can be seen that there is a variety of services but it is not easy to decide which to choose.
