Hey everybody, Rich Irwin here. I'm a proud Evans endorser and I'm here to tell you about the
new level 360 heads
Now i'd like to start by saying that I've never had a problem with the
previous design. I've always thought they were great heads, great quality,
very consistent,
so I'm thinking to myself you know how much better can the new ones be?
The answer lies in the tuning.
I put these heads on and i'm terrible at tuning drums, I'm awful. I have a very, you
know, specific sound that I want to get out of the drums,
but,
I don't know how the heck to get it.
So, I put the heads on the drums, just tighten them to where I normally put them,
and gave them a hit and they were
almost perfectly right off the
bat. So I was very excited to put them on the rest, and they all sound amazing.
I'm very happy with them. They're extremely easy to tune.
Now the second thing I noticed about these heads when I put them on was the
tone I got out of them.
My favorite has always been the G Plus, which is now the G12. I use coated ones
top and bottom, yes bottom too.
It's just my thing.
I just love that combination. I've always loved it because of the warmth that
I get out of the drums.
Now with the Level 360 design,
I get the same
warmth and roundness that I like,
plus it's even more open,
which means I can crank these down even tighter. I like my drums, you know, I like the toms
quite high-pitched, so I can really bear down on these things and still get a
beautiful warm tone out of it.
As you can see, there are no mics on the drums. I've got a Zoom up there doing everything
just to give you a true image of what they sound like.
