I've known Jack Crosby for over 55 years.
His attitude never changed through adversity, which he's
had plenty of, or through the greater success, which he's
had a great deal of.
His attitude was the same.
He was kind, generous, he'd listen, he'd help friends, he
was more interested in giving than taking.
I guess the word that comes to mind is "likeable." In
business, people enjoy doing business with Jack Crosby
because he doesn't try to squeeze every
nickel out of a deal.
There's always something in it for everybody.
And from that has come his reputation as somebody who has
complete integrity and with whom it's good to do business.
Jack is the entrepreneur's entrepreneur.
He's launched hundreds of businesses, but more notably
he's launched the careers of hundreds of entrepreneurs.
Anybody who knows him came away better than
when they met him.
He is a very kind, generous, outgoing human being, who
managed to look at life and face it for what it was.
He's provided knowledge, he's provided encouragement, in
many cases he's given entrepreneurs the confidence
to go forward and pursue their dreams.
Jack has a shining integrity.
The highest ethical standards, highest moral standards, never
judgmental.
I've never heard the man say anything derogatory about
anybody at anytime in all those years.
And believe me, that's something.
Most people don't do that.
What you see is what you get.
I mean, he has a west Texas background, and so there's no
pretense about him.
My father was a three-sport letterman at Baylor University
and he was quite a legend in that regard.
I came along with the desire to be a great athlete and
didn't have the physical ability to do that.
And so when coming the University of Texas I said, I
really want a letter in baseball, but I'm not good
enough to play, and I would dearly like to manage the
baseball team and be the student manager.
So I realized my athletic ability by getting a UT letter
by carrying a water pail.
He's been more like a brother than friend, but he's been one
of my dearest friends.
Thank you for 25 years of interesting challenges and
great times.
I'm proud of you, Jack.
And I'm proud to be your friend.
I think everybody should be proud of you and the
university, well it deserves a great deal of credit for
honoring you with this award.
