Hello, and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Cookie in a Jar Tutorial where I'll be showing
you how to make a fantastic home-baked gift to give to your friends, whereby we pop all
of the ingredients, the dry ingredients, for a lovely festive Christmas cookie into a jar
along with the instructions so that when they reach their destination with a few simple
steps, they can make themselves some homemade cookies from you with love.
Tools and equipment that we will be using today:
I've got some printables so these will be available, a link will be available in the
description for these. I've pre-done the recipe for the other end, as well just some festive
gift tags. I've got a length of ribbon.
And I've got just a piece of, I guess, festive-y coloured fabric. And I've cut around those
with some of the zigzaggy bladed scissors. So if you don't have those, you can just use
regular scissors. I've got some rolled oats so I've got a half
a cup of rolled oats or 4 oz. I've got half a cup or 4 oz of cranberries.
Half a cup or 4 oz. of pistachios. Half a cup or 4 oz. of white chocolate chips.
Plus I've got a few more over here for the end just in case I need to fill a little bit
of space. I've got a third of a cup or 3 oz. of white
sugar or caster sugar. And I've got a third of a cup or 3 oz. of
brown sugar. I'm using just under a litre capacity jar
today. And in that jar, I've already started with one and a quarter cups of flour or 10
oz., and just a half teaspoon of baking soda. Now, I will leave a link with all of those
ingredients listed in the descriptions. Once you've popped your flour into the jar,
get your hand in there and really compact it down. You really want to push it down as
far as you can because you don't want loose flour in the bottom of that jar. You want
it to be really nice and tightly packed in here so that your layers are beautiful and
they don't move around too much. I've go on with pistachio and cranberry because
they're great Christmas colours. So from here, I'm just going to pour in our pistachios.
I will also mention that I crashed those pistachios to bring out that lovely green colour so that
you couldn't see as much of the brown skin. And you'll see, as I mentioned, I'm just pushing
in my hand and really packing down those pistachios nice and tightly so they're ready for the
next layer. The next layer that I'm going to pop on will
be the oats. And they're just your regular porridge oats, rolled oats, or easy instant
oats. Once again, getting in there and really pushing it down. So when you're picking out
your cookie jar or the jar that you're going to use for this, make sure that you get one
that your hand can fit in. From here, I'll pop in some of our white sugar.
I'm not going to compact that too much because white sugar can be a little bit funny. So
I'm just going to stick the cranberry straight on top here. So you can see here, we're getting
a really nice red, green, and white look. Now I'm going to compact down those cranberries.
Obviously, you can do this for any occasion. But being in festive season, I thought the
red, green, and white combination would be gorgeous for gifts.
From here, the brown sugar, tip that one in. Now with brown sugar, I did mention that it's
a half a cup or 4 oz., make sure that that's always nice and firmly compacted in your cup.
Don't have loose brown sugar. You want it to be nice and firmly compacted when you're
measuring it out. And finally, the white chocolate chips. Now
with this, if you find that you've got a little bit of spare room in the top of your jar,
fill the jar all the way to the top. So that's why I've got the extra white chocolate chips.
You don't have to be spot on with your measurements of the pistachios and cranberries for this
recipe, but you do want to make sure that your jar is nice and full to the top because
you don't want those beautiful ingredients moving around in transit and messing up your
pretty layers. From here, pop the lid on your gorgeous little
gift jar. Over goes your little bit of festive fabric. I'm going to take that ribbon. And
I've just punched a couple of holes on the top of those tags so just fit it through.
And it is as simple as tying it around. If you love our tutorials, make sure that
