In this clip, I will demonstrate the process of defining part prices in the
base price list and in customer price lists.
In the Marketing and Sales Menu, we are going to go to Prices and Discounts,
Price Lists, and open the Price Lists Form.
The Base Price List is predefined in the system
and serves as a default source for Sales Prices.
I will demonstrate two methods of updating Base Prices, recording prices
in the Part Catalog and recording prices directly in the Base Price List.
To apply the first method, first we are going to go to the Inventory Menu
and open up the Part Catalog, and Part Catalog Form.
Pressing F11 to move to Query Mode, we will retrieve a part whose price is not
set and which does not appear in the price list.
But we can do the same for a part whose price we want to revise.
We then move to the Prices & Costs Tab and specify the desired price in
the List Price column together with its currency.
The part and its price are added automatically to the Base Price List
once we move out of the record.
To apply the second method, we will go back into the Price List form, move to
the Part Prices sublevel form, and we are going to retrieve the desired part
from the choose list of this form by going to a new line and selecting the
desired part from the Part Number choose list.
The default Buy/Sell unit appears automatically in the unit column,
but you can change this value if the part is sold to customers using a different unit.
Record the price and now, this price will appear for this part
in the Part Catalog as well.
If the part price varies according to the quantity sold, for example if
customers are offered a lower price for purchasing a larger quantity, you can
record the same part in multiple lines specifying for each line the minimum
quantity to which each price applies.
So here in the Price List, we can add another line for this part, type 10 in
the Quantity column, and 180 in the Price column.
The Part Catalog is only updated by changes to the price of a single unit.
You can also add a list of parts to the Base Price List automatically,
then enter the list and record their prices. To do this, we will return to the
Prices and Discounts Menu, go to Price Lists,
and run the Prepare Price Lists program.
In the program's input screen, we will choose the list
for which we want to add the parts.
Now, if we want to add all parts to the price list, we can leave the
asterisk in the Part Number input column, or we can run the program for
a specific group of parts. To do so, we will click F6 twice
to open the Part Catalog form.
From here we can press F11 to go into Query mode
and select the desired group of parts. In this example, I am going to select
all parts beginning with 331.
By pressing F4, I can go to multi record view and view a list of all the
parts that I am about to add to the price list.
Only parts which are not already included in the price list will be added.
We press Esc to continue running the program,
and the red magnifying glass indicates that a select group has been included
in the Part input column for running this program.
We click OK, return to the Base Price List, go to Part Prices,
and enter a price for the part added.
