Do you know how to save money on wedding photography?
Aside from letting Uncle Mike take the pictures? Put disposable cameras on all of the guest
tables and develop them after the photo.
Why on Earth would I do that?
Fifty guests take ten pictures each, and out of those 500 are a few beautiful moments that
no professional photographer would capture.
Scan that one and email or print for as many people as you'd like.
You still need a professional photographer for a wedding.
You could have two or three friends or family members with high resolution cameras take
your pictures at the start of the wedding through the end of the ceremony or hire a
pro for just the ceremony itself.
You can dismiss the pro and let your circle of friends take pictures of you opening gifts
and cutting cake, since that isn't as important to document for posterity.
What about the formal poses at the ceremony and before?
Have the bride and, if you want, her entire bridal party go to the photo gallery for formal
pictures a day or two before the wedding.
You'll get perfect pictures because she's not in the mud, and it's less stress because
you aren't pressed to finish poses before the ceremony or pose after the event when
you want to move on to the honeymoon.
Why do you think friends and family would take better pictures than a professional?
Professionals may know more about lighting, poses, pretty locations and positioning. But
you have to pay for their time, and if they emboss your wedding photos, pay them for reprints
of the wedding photos.
Whereas pictures your family take are free.
If they are stingy, offer to let their picture taking services be their wedding present.
In the scheme of things, that's rather minor.
You're the one asking how to save money on wedding photos compared to the wedding ceremony,
the gowns, the food, the dinner, the dance or the honeymoon vacation.
