Hello! Hi, my name is Izzati and today I will discuss about Teds Talks. Firstly, the first
video that i watched titled "Do School Kills Creativity" by Sir Ken Robinson. Sir Ken Robinson explained
about the conception of art that the community has in mind and art is put at the bottom of
education compared to mathematics and languages. He wanted to clarify that creativity is also
as important as mathematics and language in education. He also advised us to don't be afraid to be wrong
since doing something wrong is also an education. He used some examples to
communicate with his audience and he also included humor to prevent the audience from
feeling sleepy and the audience seemed to love his style of delivering. The second video
is by Chimamanda Adichie titled "We Should All be Feminists." The speaker wanted to prove
the idea of feminism by her own meaning. She included some anecdotes from her personal
experiences to attract the audience's attention and she also mentioned examples that is common
in people's life which is the difference in wages between women and men although they
have the same qualification and the same job. She found this condition was not fair and
we should fix this situation to be fair. The third video is by Billy Collins titled "Everyday
moments, caught in time." This video is about his poems that were used in animation. After
each video, he will explain about his poem. He tried to communicate with the audience
by giving detailed explanation so that the audience will fully understand his points. In this
video he also used humor to make his speech more relaxing and fun so that the audience
will enjoy his talk. The fourth one is "TEDS Secret to Public Speaking" by Chris Anderson.
In this video the speaker used images to make sure that the audience understand his points
visually. The speaker stated that a speaker that deliver a speech has same pattern of
idea and each idea has different pattern. Sir Chris Anderson gave some tips to attract
the audience's attention which are focus on one major idea, give people reason to care,
build your idea with familiar concept and make your idea worth sharing. I think that
this video is really helpful for us since it is related to our course. And lastly is
"How to Speak so That People Will Listen" by Julian Treasure. He introduced tools to
increase the power of speaking which are register, timbre, prosody, pace and volume. He also
taught the audience to warm up their voice before delivering speech and I believe that
this video is helpful since it will help us to become a better speaker because it teaches
us some tools that helpful for this course. Thank you.
