Our success story this week profiles an offsite airport shuttle bus company
in Atlanta, Georgia. During the last year, the ParkingSpot has added 31
compressed natural gas buses to their three lots near
the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The ParkingSpot worked with the Clean Cities-Atlanta coalition
to make the switch to the cleaner-burning fuel.
As part of the teaming arrangement, the Department of Energy provided
funding assistance to help pay for the buses
and to build six new CNG fueling stations in metro Atlanta,
including the one used by the ParkingSpot at College Park.
Company officials say they're saving over 30% in annual fuel costs with
the new vehicles, displacing almost 200,000 gallons of petroleum annually.
It's a good spot to be in as the company considers adding more alternative
fuel buses to other parking spot locations around the country.
