Let's take our slurring for these first five notes of the major scale over to the A string.
Remember these shifts that we have been working on. You've practiced them on the D and G string
already. Remember everything about your proper playing position as you are moving over the
A string, you are curving your hand around. Be careful not to lay your fingers down flat,
don't pull your hand back behind the neck like that, not a baseball bat grip but keeping
that loose C so the weight of your arm can play these notes. Going up the A string, watching
for the shifts. B with the first finger, C sharp with the fourth, now switch, C sharp,
D, shift, D, E, go back down, shift your hand down, big shift, down to open A. Now you can
say shift and big shift a beat ahead of time like I am doing and that will help to get
it in your head and also remember try saying those note names as well. A lot to think about
now so keep working at it.
