Hi everyone! In this video I'll talk about how to create better balance in your life,
to avoid procrastination,
burnout, boredom and just feeling direction-less.
Have you ever felt lost, different or like your needs don't matter?
Have you ever had a difficult time being clear with what you want,
taking action based on clarity, feeling satisfied by the actions you've take,
or having difficulty taking enough time to rest before the next task at hand?
Then this video is for you. There are four areas that need our attention in order to live
life in better balance.
And this can be compared to the natural order of life from the
developmental stage of our life, to the time of the day, to
the four seasons of nature.
The first area to create better balance in our lives is clarity.
And this can be represented by birth, the beginning in the day,
and springtime. And this is where we have mindful insight into our dreams and
wishes, goals, and
that we have a deeper understanding of ourselves
and other people. And when we don't have this sense of clarity there can be
a hurdle, a task at hand that we have to accomplish.
It might not have been safe enough for us to know our own needs
and to be able to express those. So being able to create enough safety in
our lives
to get to really know who we are, what our needs are,
have a sense of belonging, so we're not as lost
in the struggle of knowing what we want in life, is really important here.
The second area we need to address in order to create better balance in our life
is action. And this can be represented by
early adulthood into mid-life, the center/middle of the day, the heat of the
day,
and summer. And this is where we effectively take
action towards the pursuit of our goals regardless of the outcome.
It's also where we get to express our truth,
hopefully with kindness, and the ways that we get stuck here
is by procrastinating, by not taking action, by delaying
when we need to take action. This is where
sometimes we don't feel safe enough, like we'll be shamed or ridiculed if we
take action.
So the hurdle here is to understand what's the secondary gain for us.
Is it to protect ourselves? Is it to delay action
for some other benefit? To really understand
why we're not taking action and then take
small incremental steps towards the pursuit of our goals.
The third area to live our life in better balance is satisfaction.
And this can be represented by older adulthood,
twilight, autumn and the harvest. This is where we get to enjoy
our completed action regardless of the outcome,
to really take in the nourishment from the fruits of our labor.
It's also where we get to give and receive love
It's our ability to accept love and support from other people.
And this can be really challenging given certain cultures
that are more self-reliant that are about not having needs, about producing
and doing.
The hurdle here is to give yourself enough time to really feel satisfied
by those completed actions, to be somewhat communal with trusted people in
our lives,
and to to really take in the nourishment from those completed actions,
and from the love and support of other people.
The fourth area in living a balanced life is rest.
And this can be represented by the end of life, the dark of the night,
and deep winter. This is where we get to rest with a sense of completion,
Where we really get to let go of the lists and the tasks,
addictions, whatever else they might be and just slow down and let
ourselves be. The last pose
in yoga is the corpse pose, the sivasana pose,
where we lie down flat on the ground and just melt
into the floor. So the hurdle here
is to recognize and accept that we could be loved
for just who we are not for what we produce are what we do.
So it's about letting ourselves
rest, recuperate, rejuvenate, before the next task at hand.
From a place of mindfulness and compassion ask yourself the question,
"What area of my life needs more attention: getting clarity,
taking action, feeling satisfied or resting."
