My name is Craig Kline and I’m a general surgeon that works at Southwestern Medical
Clinic. I attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and
I stayed at the Detroit Medical Center, associated with Wayne State University for my general
surgical residency. The longer that I studied science, I realized that I had two inescapeable
loves in life. And that was studying and working with science, and also working with people.
But there was something special about surgery; seeing the immediate results of helping a
patient in the operating room and seeing them get immediately better, and knowing what a
drastic change you could make in someone’s life in just the span of a couple hours was
pretty incredible to see. I was drawn to the practice here at Southwestern just because
of its mission statement, the surgery team that’s present at Southwestern Medical Clinic,
and also just the excellence of care at Lakeland Hospital. Working with the other general surgeons
in my practice is a privilege. It’s… it’s a privilege to be a part of a team that can
give such excellent clinical care, but also has such compassion for the, the people that,
that we have the privilege to treat. I am married. My wife, Stephanie and I have two
children, our daughter, Audrey, who is three, and my son, (Kaden?) who just turned one.
We love the outdoors, so whether it’s hiking the dunes, going to the beach, you know, spending
days outside, it’s… the nature in this area is pretty incredible; we love… we love
living in Southwest Michigan. It’s always great to hear good stories from patient that
have had a good experience. And really that’s… that’s my desire, that people would be able
to have an experience with a surgeon that is not intimidating, or their put at ease,
but where they also receive the most excellent care they can.
