Hi. This is Lisa with OCLC and this is How to Respond Yes to a Loan Request.
In this video, we will print the request for retrieval and once we retrieve the items,
we can select by ID number or find it in the "Can You Supply?" queue.
We will review the request information, apply constant data and respond yes to the loan
request. We will also take a quick look at batch processing.
Here in WorldShare ILL, we can open up the "Can You Supply?" queue to see all of our
new incoming requests.
New requests have a status of "submitted". Once we view or print these requests, the
status will change to "considering".
Below the Lending Requests option in the tool bar, we can select the Print Queue and go
to Print All and print all of our new loans.
We can select two per page and print the request. Once the items have been retrieved, we will return to the Interlibrary
Loan Home page and either search for the request by request ID, by scanning or entering the
barcode into the search field and clicking Go or by clicking the "Can You Supply?" queue.
Note that the statuses for anything we've printed have changed to "considering". The
item we would like to respond yes to is the book Fever Pitch.
On the request record, we can review the action items "Can You Supply?" yes, no or conditional
response and on the right hand side, we have the option to apply our constant data, email
the record or add to the print request queue.
In this case, we will apply our constant data for loans. Note than when we do that, the
constant data fields that have changed are highlighted in green.
We can scroll down and look through the request details, the borrowing information, and the
lending information.
When we're ready to respond, we can click Print Shipping Labels and Print Book Straps
to add this record to those print queues and simply click Yes.
We will receive a dialogue confirming that the request has moved to the shipped/in transit
queue. The status has changed and the ID number is linked in case we would like to go back
and look at the record again.
Now returning to the ILL home page, we also have the option for batch processing. We know
on the left hand side that the "Can You Supply?" header is where we will click because of this
icon next to the header text.
Here, if we would like to batch respond, we will click the link to the right of Batch
Respond to "Can You Supply?" and we will click Yes.
Anything that we would like to add here, we can scan in by barcode or enter the barcode
manually or we can add items from the table below by clicking the green plus sign.
Once we've added the items to the table above, we will click Print Shipping Labels, Print
Book Straps, apply the constant data and click Yes.
Again we receive a dialogue confirming that this request has been processed.
So we looked at printing our request for retrieval. We selected the item by looking in the "Can
You Supply?" queue but you can also search from the home screen using the ID number.
We reviewed the request information, applied constant data and responded yes to an individual
loan request and looked at batch processing.
