Regrets: How to Limit Them: There’s a quote from one of my favorite
philosophers, the 17th century Jesuit priest Baltasar Gracián, that I wish I´d have found
when I was a young professional. It may have helped me from making a number of mistakes
in my early career. Let me share it with you. “It´s better to sleep on things beforehand
than to lie awake about them afterwards.” Think about that. Think about the maturity
that it takes to do that, about the patience. You know, sometimes we’re so convinced that
our emotion is revealing the right thing to us that we should do or that we know what
the answer is so fervently and so dramatically that we must speak out now or we must act
now. Well, many times when we do that we end up doing something that Baltazar refers to
as keeping us awake, thinking about it afterwards. Think about that. Think about sleeping on
it beforehand. Till next time, I´m Pepper de Callier.
