Welcome to Suseela's Kitchen. Today I will show you how to make Tomato Daal
To make Tomato Daal, you will need:
half a cup of Toor Daal, 1 and half cup of water, 4 tomatoes
Before you cook, you will need to wash toor daal twice.
This give you nice taste.
To cook daal I use pressure-cooker.
I have to put 1 and half cup of water on the bottom of the cooker.
And then place the daal container inside the cooker. Close the lid.
Place the cooker on the stove on high heat.
Once steam starts to come, place the weight.
Reduce the heat to low-medium.
Wait for 10 minutes
Meantime we chop tomatoes, while cooking the daal.
Cut into small pieces
Done.
For saute, you will need:
1 teaspoon urad daal, half teaspoon mustard,
half teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 dry chilli
1 clove of garlic, cut into small pieces and 1 curry leaf
For seasoning, you will need: salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder
Saute
1 table spoon of olive oil or 1 and half spoon. 1 and half table spoon.
Wait until oil heats up
First you put garlic
Add urad daal
Garlic gives you nice flavour to the daal.
Add cumin and mustard
Add dry chilli, make into pieces and then add into the saute.
Wait until these all ingredients turn into just light brown colour.
Add curry leaves
Ready to put tomato pieces into the saute.

Add salt, turmeric and chilli powder
Stir until they become little bit soft.
Now, add water
Approximately, half cup water.
Close the lid, wait. Cook until, the tomatoes become like a puree.
Meanwhile, we check daal.
It is ready. If you don't have pressure-cooker you can use
If you don't have pressure-cooker, you can use normal pot.
This give you about approximately half an hour.
If you cook in pressure cooker it will take lesser time.
Stir occasionally. Still you have to cook for few more minutes. Close the lid.
Meanwhile, take daal from the cooker,
check it is ready, just take a little bit
This is now ready.
you can use in the daal.
Transfer daal into the tomato puree.
Close the lid, wait approximately 10 minutes.
Cook approximately 10 minutes
on a medium heat
Now we check daal
Its ready now. Turn off the stove
Leave it 5 minutes with closed lid.
Now this is ready. You can eat with chapaties, rice, using ghee.
It gives nice flavour to this daal.
