JON BON JOVI: Being here tonight as well and coming to support
the Governor and our great state of New Jersey.
ANNOUNCER: All the way from Sayreville, New Jersey...
[Applause]
he took the Turnpike but he knew the way.
Ladies and gentleman, Jon Bon Jovi!
JON BON JOVI: One, two, three, four
And I just want to say a couple brief words
about the Governor
who's a friend of mine.
He truly has been a friend of mine.
I knew Jon - Governor Corzine, sorry
when as a Senator - we met when he was in the Senate
and we were fighting for
the same things here in New Jersey.
And we were trying to look out for those
who were less fortunate and needed our help.
"Who says you can't go home,
there's only one place that call me one of their own
just a hometown boy, born a rolling..."
JON BON JOVI: As he became our governor
when we were addressing the homeless issue here,
right here in Newark,
there was construction on 51 units
that me and my foundation are building
right here, right now.
And the governor was quick to jump on top of that
and commit to doing everything he could
for those in need.
"It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
I went as far as I could,
I tried to find a new face
there isn't one of these lines
that I would erase
I lived a million miles of memories on..."
JON BON JOVI: And whether it's in Newark where we are today
or in Camden where we're going to be doing
something together come the end of the year,
I always have the Governor's ear
and the ability to share our thoughts
on what we can do
to make Jersey a better place.
And I can tell you this,
I can't imagine
and I've often asked him:
"You were successful in the private sector,
you were very successful as a Senator,
you already won the governorship.
Why do you do this?"
And he honest to God,
he looked at me and he said:
"Because when you see the difference you make
in someone's life
it makes it all worthwhile."
So... talk about a selfless attitude.
Here's a man that just gives and gives of himself
to make everyday peoples' lives
just that much better.
"It's alright, it's alright,
it's alright, it's alright,
who says you can't go...
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
[MUSIC: Violin Solo]
Doesn't matter where you are,
doesn't matter where you go
if it's a million miles away
or just a mile up the road,
you take it in,
take it with you when you go
who says you can't go...
who says that you can't..."
JON BON JOVI: But I hope that
you all do your part
to try to make the world a better place,
and we'll take it from
"yes we can"
to "yes we will"
to "yes we did".
And so, I'll leave you with one more...
It's alright, it's alright, It's alright
who says you can't go...
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
who says you can't go...
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
who says you can't go...
it's alright, it's alright, it's alright,
it's alright...
who says you can't go home?"
"Take my hand, we'll make it I swear..."
