Sup guys. Wellcome to my Video Walkthrough/Playthrough for this amazing NES game.
The Legend of Zelda was the first true game I played on a console and it will always have a special place in my heart :)
By true game I don't mean that other NES games were not really games or bad, I only mean that this was the first one that actually had a detailed world and story behind it.
The original Open World Game. Unfortunately, I know all to well how hidden some things are in this game, and the frustration that come with trying to find said things.
This is one of the main reasons I decided to make a video walkthrough for it :). Well, that and the fact that I love the game :D
Before we start off on our quest let me point out a few things. First, this video is filled with SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :D
Secondly, this video is part 1 of a 4 parts walkthrough. Links to the next three parts will be added to the description as they're being uploaded
Last but not least, this game is an open world game and so it lets you enter any dungeon you want at any time, so there is no real set path
This walkthrough however shows the way to complete the game by taking your time to fully prepare for the dungeons and collecting everything in between.
And since there are plenty of things to collect that are just hidden in the Overworld and don't require you to have any special items, this part of the walkthrough will focus on collecting said items in order to be as prepared as you can before setting foot in the first dungeon
And as one last thing, don't forget to subscribe and click that bell icon to receive notification when new videos are up :).
As soon as you enter the game you'll notice the cave where you'll be getting the first sword of the game.
This is probably the most famous spot in all the game as it is home to the old man that says: "It's Dangerous to go alone, take this"
This sword does really low damage, but for now it'll have to do.
Most of the stuff you'll be collecting is hidden in caves that you must reveal by blowing them open
So our next task is to make our way to the shop that sells bombs, and acquire 20 rupees on our way there so we can make the purchase
So as soon as you collect the sword and leave the cave, make your way all the way to the right until you reach water and there's no way to go except up
Be sure to get rid of everything on your way there to try and collect those 20 rupees
Once you reach the point where you can't go right anymore, go up one screen to reach the shop that sells the bombs
If you're lucky enough, chances are one of the many enemies you've dealt with along the way dropped some bombs for you
If you did, it's up to you if you want the still spend the 20 rupees to get some more bombs
But unless you already have 8 bombs I advice you to buy the ones from the shop also, there's plenty of places to blow up :D
Once you have all the bombs that you need it's time to start collecting all the stuff that is available in the Overworld at this point
So go back down one screen and then make your way to the left 4 screens.
Once you reach the forth screen to the left place a bomb on this wall to reveal the entrance to a cave
In here you'll find one of the 5 heart containers scattered around the Overworld
If you don't already know this, the heart containers don't only increase your max health, they're also a requirement for upgrading your sword
So just like Pokemon, you better catch 'em all :D
After you collect the heart container, make your way north for two screens
On this second screen, turn right and advance two more screens
On the second screen, go up one screen and then right one screen to reach a hidden rupee location
On this screen touch the statue on the right to awaken it and uncover the entrance to the hidden rupee location
This location will only give you 10 rupees
Once you exit the cave, go back to the left one screen and then up one screen.
On this screen you have to do the same thing, touch the statue on the right to reveal the entrance to another rupee cave
This cave will contain 30 rupees
Once you exit the cave, go north one screen
Once you've dealt with all the enemies and it's safe, bomb the wall at the location shown to reveal the entrance to another rupee cave
When you get out of the rupee cave go left one screen and bomb the right side of the big rock.
It will reveal the entrance to another cave where you can collect the second heart container from the Overworld
When you come back out, go back to the screen on the right and then go north one screen.
From there continue two screens to the right
On this screen you'll find the entrance to a gambling den. Here you can gamble your hard earned rupees :D
This can dry out your pockets very fast, however there is a way to gamble with a 100% win rate.
I do not show it the video, but if you enter the den, take your pick to learn where the wining rupee is, wait a little bit for the rupees to reset without leaving the cave
And then pick the wining rupee over an over again as many times as you want, as long as you don't exit the cave, the location will always be the same.
In this video I gamble the old fashioned way :D
Once you're done gambling, get out the den and walk through the mountain that limits the screen to access a secret screen
On this screen you'll see the entrance to another rupee cave, and this one holds a whooping 100 rupees
Once you collect the rupees and get out of the cave go back down and to the left once
From this screen go north and enter the cave there
In this cave you'll find an old man that will give you a letter. You need that letter to be able to purchase potions from the Old Woman in shops later on
After you collect the letter, it's time to go collect the blue candle and the sword upgrade
So leave the cave, go back down one screen, one screen left and back up one screen
Once on this screen go left once and enter the cave to find the shop that sells the blue candle
Once in the shop, collect the blue candle and move on, I know the shield might tempt you but there are other places you can collect it from
When you leave the shop, go down one screen and then left two screens
Once you get to the second screen to the left, go up one screen and you should see the entrance to a cave
In the cave you'll find an old man that will upgrade your sword to the White Sword if you have 5 heart containers as max health
Now it'll be a lot easier to get rid of the enemies, making Link's survival a way easier task
After you've collected the sword and left the cave, go down one screen and three screens to the left
Now that you have the blue candle and you can burn bushes and trees, it's time to go collect another heart container and the magic shield
Once on the third screen to the left, go down one screen and then right one screen
Once on this screen burn the lowest green tree on the right column to reveal the entrance to a rupee cave
This cave will contain 30 rupees
Once you collect the rupees and exit the cave, make your way down two screens
Once you get to the indicated screen, burn down the tree shown in the video to reveal another entrance to a rupee cave
This cave also rewards you 30 rupees
Once you collect the rupees, leave the cave and make your way to the left one screen
Once there, burn down the fifth tree counting from the right to reveal another cave entrance.
This time the cave will reveal another heart container location.
After collecting that, go to the left one more screen, and burn the tree in the left corner
This newly uncovered cave holds another shop, this is where you can upgrade your shield by purchasing the magical shield
You can also use this place to fill up your health if you have the rupees, each heart costs 10 rupees.
Once you've finished with the shop go down one screen
Once on this screen, burn down the bush indicated in the video to reveal an entrance to another rupee cave
This one will only contain a measly 10 rupees, but hey, free rupees are always good rupees :D
After you exit the rupee cave, go right three screens, up one screen and right one more screen
You can now enter the shop here and buy the arrow
Once that's taken care of, go right one more screen and then down one screen
Once on this screen burn down the indicated tree to enter another rupee cave for 10 more free rupees
Continue south one more screen after you exit the rupee cave
Once the area is clear, burn the tree shown in the video to enter another rupee cave
And this time it's gonna be for a banging 100 rupees :D
Once you exit the cave, make your way to the left for four screens
One you reach this screen and the coast is clear, bomb the mountain wall in the place indicated to reveal another rupee cave entrance
Enter the cave to add another 30 rupees to your National Bank of Hyrule account
After you exit the cave, continue going left for three more screens
On your way there you can enter another shop that sells stuff you already bought along the way and a key that you won't need if you follow this walkthrough
Once you get to that third screen you'll be able to enter another cave.
This cave is the residence of an Old lady, equip the letter you got from the Old man earlier and she will allow you to buy potions.
The blue potion will fully restore your health, but the red one is even better because it does the same thing but you can use it twice.
And since we're starting to get ready to head for the dungeons I highly encourage you to buy a red potion.
From this point on, there's one more item to collect before heading to the dungeons, and some more rupee caves on the way there.
So once you exit the old woman's shop head right one screen and then down one screen
From this screen, use the lower path to go right two more screens
Once you get to the second screen and the way is clear, bomb the mountain wall in the shown location to reveal another rupee cave
Enter the cave to collect another 30 rupee
Once you exit the cave, proceed up one screen and then right one screen
On this screen burn down the tree in the spot shown in this video to reveal another rupee cave entrance
You don't want to miss this cave as it awards you with a sexy 100 rupee bill :)
Once you collect the cash and exit the cave, go up one screen and left one screen
Once the area is clear, burn the tree shown in the video to reveal another rupee cave for 10 more rupees
After you exit the rupee cave, go right three screens and then two screens up
On your way there you'll have the chance to enter another shop that sells bombs.
You will need all your rupees to purchase the next item, so i strongly advise you to steer clear of this shop
Once you clear the screen of any creatures, touch the statue in the middle on the upper row and it will reveal a secret entrance to a shop
This shop sells the Blue ring for an amazing price of 250 rupees. It's worth every rupee however, as this ring will upgrade link and make him more resistant to damage
At this point you would have collected everything that is available at this point. So it's time to make your way to the first dungeon
To get there, once you exit the shop, go down three screens and cross the little bridge there
After you crossed the small bridge, go up one scree, right one screen, up one more screen and right two screens
Once here, go up one more screen and then cross the bridge to the left to the next screen
This will bring you in front of the entrance to the Level 1 Dungeon, and that is where this first part of the walkthrough ends
