Hi. I'm Kimra, and my mom is on Twitter.
Is your mom on Twitter?
My mom joined Twitter to follow me
and the goings on of her granddaughter.
My mom is on Twitter and has an awesome
account, you should follow my mom. [laughs]
Her username is bepaperepap,
...yeah, for real.
My mom called me after work one day
and asked me how the minestrone soup
was for lunch, apparently she follows me and my coworkers
and knows what I eat.
And so, my mom created a Twitter account
and actually tweeted on behalf of the dog
and it's been a source of a lot of laughs
and conversation since then.
Having my mom be on Twitter has actually been totally awesome.
Lots of people have stories about their parents getting online
and posting embarrassing things
or not really understanding how it works,
and I think those stories are really funny, but my story's different.
[audio from laptop] It makes me feel like I'm connected
and I enjoy that, and that's how I got involved using Twitter
and why I still use it now.
Turns out that she actually tweets about travel,
she tweets about Madmen, she tweets about her dinner,
she basically tweets about exactly the same things I tweet about.
It was a way to stay in touch and I thought that
she would be entertained by some things so then I just thought,
you know, why not?
- They took a trip to Spain last year, she and my dad, - [onscreen tweet] Boarding. To Espana! Still hasn't sunk in.
and it was actually really great for me to follow because they're in Spain,
- I'm seeing her posting about, "Oh, we got tickets for a bullfight"... - [onscreen] Off to the bullfights. Ole!
and then I'm seeing her posting, "I would rather be a flamenco dancer than a bullfighter"
and its all of these little funny hundred and forty character travel logs.
And I don't know that I would have gotten that kind of thing about one of her vacations,
especially not while it was happening, before Twitter.
My dad just doesn't understand any of this,
but I think he's a little bit jealous of how much she knows about
what I'm doing.
I sometimes see when Kimra posts things that are interesting
that I like to think that we're having a conversation.
Using Twitter has definitely brought us closer together, and
I get to hear a lot more about her life and the details of what she does all day
then I ever would have known before Twitter.
Happy Mother's Day. #mymomtweets
Does she use Twitter?
She does, she actually, oh my God,
she's constantly messaging people at my office, not me,
and telling them, "Tell Bizi I love him!"
- That's sweet! - And they come over, and I'm like,
Mom, you can call me and tell me,
you don't need to message the other guys in the office.
[Conan] Yeah, well some people have difficulty telling you know.
Yeah, sometimes there's a thing.
I'd kill for a tweet like that from my parents.
Aww. [laughter]
Well, anyway, back to your complaints...
