Seventy-two hours, now that seems like a reasonable amount of time that the American people, members
of Congress, and the media should have to review legislation before we vote on it. This
week I joined 42 democrats and 149 Republicans in co-sponsoring a resolution that will require
Congress to post bills on the internet for seventy-two hours before they are considered.
Unfortunately the leadership of the democratic controlled congress is refusing to hold a
vote on it. This is just another example of Washington being out of touch with the American
people. We're debating some of the most sweeping policy changes in our nation’s history,
and i think the American people have the right to see what their elected officials are voting
on. But obviously the democrat leadership disagrees, which makes me wonder, what kind
of legislation would need to be hidden from the public? Well, unfortunately it's the bad
kind. Open and honest government that is what I am fighting for, I'm proud to be your congressman,
I'm Patrick McHenry. Thank you, and God Bless.
