Speaker 1: Welcome to the Toronto Public Library website. Let's take a tour on how to search
for library programs. Let's start at the homepage of the Toronto Public Library which you can
get to, by typing in www.torontopubliclibrary.ca into your address bar. Today, we're gonna
show you how to search for programs in any of the Toronto Public Library branches.
S1: There are two ways to search for library programs. The first way uses the search box,
found on the library's homepage. Every page on our website has a search box. So, you don't
need to return to the homepage every time. The search box is best to use when you know
the program name or the program topic. Let's say, you are interested in learning to write
a memoir. We can type in "memoir" into the search box and press enter or click Search.
Our search results include books, DVDs, blogs, and more. We can find the programs by clicking
in "Programs & Classes" in the type box on the left hand side of the screen. Now, we
have all the programs relating to memoirs. We can further limit our results, by using
the categories on the left hand side of the screen or by sorting by date. Let's click
on the Toronto Public Library logo to return to the homepage.
S1: The other way of finding programs is using the "Programs, Classes & Exhibits" link in
the blue banner. If we move our mouse over the link, we can see different kinds of programs
offered by the Toronto Public Library, put into categories. We can click on a specific
category or on "Programs, Classes & Exhibits". Now, we're on the "Programs, Classes & Exhibits"
page. The left hand side of the screen has the same categories as we just saw on the
previous page. The middle of the screen contains featured programs throughout the Toronto Public
Library. The right hand side allows us to search for programs or browse programs by
Branch and Audience. If I'm looking for a children's program at the Danforth/Coxwell
Library, I just have to select the library, in this case "Danforth/Coxwell", and my audience,
which will be "All children", and simply click Browse to search. This will give us a list
of all the children's programs at the Danforth/Coxwell library that are coming up. Once again, we
can use the categories on the left hand side of the page to limit our search or sort by
date.
S1: Let's recap. We search for programs using the search box and through the "Programs,
Classes & Exhibits" portal. We saw the different categories of programs and searched for programs
in a specific branch. That's how to find library programs. Thank you for taking a tour of the
Toronto Public Library website today. If you want to learn more about using the website,
please take another one of our tours.
