Ben: So Chris are you a staff or student here at RIT?
Chris: I’m a student here.
Ben: Okay, so you probably commute to campus. You don’t live on campus.
Chris: I do commute. I commute everyday.
Ben: Excellent. Well, this is a system that is going to help you find RideShare partners so that you don’t have to drive as often.
You can save money on gas. Help the environment.
What we have is a map with icons and you click on an icon of someone that lives near your home.
Take a look at their schedule. It appears right below your own schedule.
This is a perfect match. So I will click on the person’s profile.
I will find out what contact information they have left me. How many seats they have. Whether they smoke. Their gender.
And I can contact them outside the site.
Another really cool thing we are going to do is
we are going to make it so that you can have the map only show you people who match your arrival or departure time.
So if I click on arrival. I pick a day – May 2.
All of the icons that do not match my arrival time on May 2 will disappear
Leaving only the matches that will help me find a ride.
That’s our system. It will be ready in the fall we hope.
We are going to be rideshare.rit.edu.
