Welcome to the J. Paul Leonard Library Skills Tutorial for HED 120.
Hello there! I am the library skills tutorial naviGator
and I will be helping you as you work through this tutorial.
This tutorial will introduce you to basic information literacy concepts
by walking you through finding books and articles.
In this tutorial you will identify a social issue
and a specific community, identify additional keywords to search with,
perform a search for materials, refine your search
and then learn how to capture an article for future use.
Overall this tutorial should provide you with a general idea of how to determine
the types of materials you need
and then how to find them efficiently.
The full tutorial should take about 20 minutes to complete.
Keep in mind that once you begin the tutorial
you may not be able to return to where you left off
if you close the window that you were using. At the end of this tutorial you will
receive an
emailed summary of your activities during this tutorial
which you can keep for your own records or print out
and turn in to your professor. Be sure to go all the way through the
end of the tutorial to get this emailed verification. To move through the
tutorial
use the buttons on the lower right side of the screen. Remember that your library
is here to help!
You can get help with this tutorial or general research help and library
assistance
by contacting a librarian. Contact a librarian through the library's IM
service,
stopping by the research assistance desk on the first floor,
calling them at 415 338 1974,
