Apple Pie Recipe
Peel, core & slice 6 apples
Melt in low heat: 50 gr sugar, 50 gr palm sugar, 4 tbs lemon juice. Mix well.
Add 2 tbs cinnamon powder
Mix well with apple in low heat, put the lid on until it softens & the mixture thickens
How to make the pie crust
Mix: 300 gr flour, 1 tsp salt, 195 gr vegetable shortening.
Mix with hand until the texture becomes sand-like
Mix in bowl: 7 tbs water & 1 tbs apple vinegar
Mix the vinegar into the flour mixture, while keep mixing with your hand
Check the apples & stir. Add raisins & sliced almond
Divide the pie dough into 2 parts
Sprinkle flour on the dough to prevent sticking
Roll the dough until it's 0.5 cm thick
Move it onto the pie bowl & mold gently
Cut the excess dough
Roll & flatten dough #2 until it's 0,5cm thick
Cut 14 long strands as wide as 1 cm
Move the apple mixture into the pie bowl
Use the dough strands to create webbing pattern
Press down the sides & cut the excess dough
To make sure the pie is closed nice & tight, press down the sides using a fork.
For the shine, brush the crust with egg yolk
Sprinkle with sugar
Rest the pie in the fridge for 30 minutes before baking
Preheat the oven at 175 degrees celcius & bake the pie for 35-45 minutes
