While you're out hunting there's a couple of great things that you really need to have.
A good set of binoculars for glassing the land. Most people think while you're out hunting
or while you're hunting large game you're tromping through the woods. Those are the
guys that don't ever harvest an animal. The people that are sitting and glassing and looking
at the mountain side and looking; and spend most of their time looking in valleys from
ridge lines and things like that are the ones that get them. So, a good pair of binoculars
is important. Also, for people that aren?t very comfortable with knowing their distance,
distances; which is a pivotal part of hunting. Knowing exactly how far away the animal is
so you can get a good shot on it is a good pair of range finders. These ones will range
up to eight hundred yards and will tell me exactly, within a couple of yards or a yard;
plus or minus a yard; how far away the animal is. Another good thing to have is a shooting
stick that you can either buy or you can make, simply, like this one that I've done here.
It?s a pair, all it is, is a couple of pieces of cedar, cedar wood put together. What do
I have here? This is a bicycle tube tire. I wrapped it up with some electrical tape.
When you're down ready to take a shot, we'll be doing this later; I have a resting point
to keep that gun exactly, to keep that gun completely steady while I'm taking the shot.
Other things that I didn't bring or don't have here that are really good to have are
a spotting scope which will give you an even longer area of view for finding different
animals.
