Len Peters: We have been able through
the stimulus program to award a
2.23 million dollar grant
from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
through the US department of energy
to create the Kentucky Industrial and
Commercial Sustainability Program.
Cam Metcalf: Moving toward sustainability
requires a commitment to continual improvement.
And one of the first steps as we look at this
is getting that top management commitment.
Terry Gill, the President and CEO of Fetters Group
here made that decision in August of 2007
to move toward sustainability.
And we’ve been proud to be working with his sustainability team.
Providing training here at the facility with that
team doing pollution prevention assessments,
looking at waste as well as energy efficiency assessments,
and looking at those opportunities for reducing energy use, energy cost.
Terry Gill: This business requires a
tremendous amount of power.
We’re Servicing some large clients as
such we have large pieces of equipment
that consume amazing amounts of power.
And as we looked at our role in terms of
sustainability and our responsibilities locally we
started that process about in 2006 to understand
how we could best reduce our energy consumption.
In 2007 we established sort of our baseline energy usage.
We actually reduced our total consumption by a total 32% since 2007,
and for a company our size the ability to take
those dollars and reinvest them into our business so
that we could upgrade our equipment and expand
our business has just been a tremendous asset for us.
