it's hard to keep track of what the latest primary criticism Obamacare
is from the american right-wing the latest that I heard
that I want to talk about with you today is the idea that president obama lied
when he said
you will be able to keep your health care plan if you've been following
right-wing media at all for the last few days
there have been ramping headlines about Obama lied
a million plans cancelled on people so much
upper or actually happened over this that the House of Representatives passed
a Republican piece of legislation on Friday
to let insurers continue selling existing plans to
anyone through 2014 regardless of whether they go against
the stipulations involved in the Affordable Care Act
the final vote was $2.61 to 157
in favor mostly republicans plus thirty-nine Democrats who voted
with all but or over the republicans now here's the thing
you might be surprised by this you might not
but a salon expertly pointed out over the weekend
President Obama did not lie about keep your health care plan if you actually
analyze this
let's go back first the wall the Affordable Care Act grandfathered in
all love the policies that were in place
in place at the time that Obamacare was enacted
this means that the plans in effect at the time that President Obama was
pushing the bill
could still be offered even if they didn't meet the standards that would
eventually become the law
as part of the Affordable Care Act the plans being terminated now
that right-wingers are lipping out about are being terminated
because they don't meet the minimal standards that
insurers were bound by after
the passage the Affordable Care Act in other words
insurers continued to offer these plans
which would become invalidated as written
in the law once at the O the Affordable Care Act was fully
implemented if insurers didn't tell their clients by the way
this plan is going to be invalid it does not even meet the minimum requirements
that the Affordable Care Act
it only going to be available for a short time if insurers didn't tell
their customers that that is not President Obama's fault Louis
now its misplaced blame
but I'm when we've got people saying that Obama is lying about his birth
certificate
how could we expect them to be to say to be reasonable when it comes to something
up this magnitude here there's another set a plan so let's forget about the
ones where people
unknowingly your or or knowingly chose plans that were not going to be valid
after the implementation of Obamacare there is another set of plans
which are being eliminated simply because as a result of the competition
created by Obamacare
the plans are no longer worthwhile
for insurers to offer so again if President Obama's law
makes it so that some of these bad plans
simply aren't going to make any sense for private insurance companies to
continue offering
because they are such bad plans that is not
President Obama's fault and it is not President Obama taking that plan away
the insurance company as they always do is offering plans that they can sell
that is not President Obama's fault either now
and i can understand being upset I it's it's a pain to have to change
your plant but Amin it seems like chances are if you had one of these
plans you're getting a pretty raw deal anyway
right and then some people are going well that might have been bad coverage
but it was a very cheap premium and that's exactly what
what Obamacare want to prevent against which are these programs that offer up
basically no coverage there
barely better than having no insurance they cost some money
but still end up with people having medical expense related bankruptcies
that that's part of the problem so do not fall for this lie
that is circulating get the data read the salon article
