It’s only through social justice and good income distribution that you succeed to establish
a sustained growth. In a very unequal world, for some time you may grow based on the consumption
of the very rich, but in the long term this is not sustainable. This is partly the explanation
of what happened with the Lehman Brothers, where you have this virtual economy, many
people getting very rich out of nothing, so we didn’t count distribution, with social
justice, you have people buying real things, putting real workers in the factories. That’s
how we were able to manage it, and I think all the world can do the same, probably as
well as we did. I am absolutely hopeful, no I am certain that this is necessary, and the
consciousness about the necessity of social justice is growing, not only from a moral
point of view, but also from an economic point of view.
