[Jon:] Small engines always interested me.
I heard about this program and I thought, 'Wow, that's kind of like my hobby'.
[Scott:] You learn everything about all the engines.
From two-stroke to four-stroke to-- even turbines you touch on.
[Jon:] In our emissions class, we hooked the machine up to the exhaust.
I didn't think that small engines put out a lot of emissions and actually that is a big concern.
[Scott:] You can actually take your computer and plug it into the engine
and read different parameters of what's going on within that engine.
Testing the engine for power, putting the engine under load,
making sure the fuel mixtures are correct.
If this test ever has to be looked at again, someone can come back
and duplicate everything that's been done.
The technician sets up the test, runs the engine, and brings the engineer's ideas to life.
Pretty exciting
Always something different.
