AGREEMENT ON THE
STATE'S BUDGET.
AND THEY HAD NO
TIME TO LOSE...
THE DEAL WAS
ANNOUNCED JUST
BEFORE THREE THIS
MORNING.
LAWMAKERS NEEDED
AGREE ON A DEAL
BEFORE SUNRISE
TODAY...TO HAVE TIME
TO VOTE ON THE
DRAFTED BUDGET.
THAT VOTE WILL
HAPPEN
TOMORROW...THE
LAST DAY OF THE
LEGISLATIVE SESSION.
GOVERNOR BEVIN'S
OFFICE RELEASED A
STATEMENT THIS
MORNING...THANKING
SENATE PRESIDENT
STIVERS...HOUSE
SPEAKER
STUMBO...AND THE
CONFERENCE
COMMITTEE...FOR
THEIR HARD WORK.
THE STATEMENT ALSO
SAYS...QUOTE..."FOR
THE FIRST TIME IN
DECADES...WE CAN
SAY THAT KENTUCKY
IS INVESTING IN OUR
PENSION SYSTEM IN A
MEANINGFUL WAY.
"WE LOOK FORWARD
TO REVIEWING THE
DETAILS OF THE
COMPROMISE AND ITS
FINAL PASSAGE."
LAWMAKERS WILL
NOT HAVE TIME TO
OVERRIDE ANY
VETOES THE
GOVERNOR MIGHT
MAKE IN THEIR
BUDGET.
GOVERNOR MATT
BEVIN HAS SIGNED A
BILL... THAT CREATES A
'SINGLE' MARRIAGE
LICENSE FORM.. FOR
GAY AND STRAIGHT
COUPLES IN
KENTUCKY.
THE NEW FORM.. WILL
'NOT' HAVE THE NAME
OF THE COUNTY
CLERK ON IT.
AND IT WILL HAVE
THE OPTIONS OF
"BRIDE," "GROOM"
AND "SPOUSE."
THE BILL IS IN
RESPONSE TO ROWAN
COUNTY CLERK KIM
DAVIS.. WHO REFUSED
TO ISSUE MARRIAGE
LICENSES WITH HER
NAME ON THEM.. TO
SAME-SEX COUPLES...
CITING HER RELIGIOUS
BELIEFS.
THE GOVERNOR 'DID'
VETO SIX BILLS
YESTERDAY.
ACCORDING TO OUR
NEWS PARTNERS AT
THE HERALD-LEADER...
BEVIN VETOED TWO
MANDATORY
EXPENDITURES FROM
THE JUDICAL BRANCH
BUDGET.
VETOING THE
EXPENDITURES MEANS
MORE MONEY FOR
KENTUCKY COURTS.
THE GOVERNOR
STRUCK A BILL THAT
WOULD HAVE
CREATED A
STATEWIDE "BOOKS
FOR BRAINS
PROGRAM"... TO HAND
OUT BOOKS TO
CHILDREN.
BEVIN SAID THERE
WASN'T ENOUGH
MONEY FOR IT.
HE ALSO VETOED A
BILL THAT WOULD
HAVE REQUIRED
ASSISTED-LIVING
FACILITIES TO
EDUCATE THEIR
RESIDENTS ON THE
RISKS OF THE
FLU...AND BENEFITS OF
VACCINATIONS.
HE SAID IT WAS
A...QUOTE..."UNNECESS
ARY GOVERNMENT
INTRUSION INTO THE
PRIVATE SECTOR."
A SECOND BLACK
STUDENT HAS LEFT
LEXINGTON CATHOLIC
HIGH
SCHOOL...SAYING HE
WAS ASSAULTED
MONDAY BY A WHITE
STUDENT.
THE MOTHER OF THE
'FIRST' BOY WHO
CAME FORWARD...
GAVE AN 'EXCLUSIVE'
TELEVISION
INTERVIEW TO WKYT
YESTERDAY
DENISHA VINEGAR
SAYS.. SHE HAD TO
TAKE HER 14-YEAR-
OLD SON 'OUT' OF
LEXINGTON CATHOLIC
HIGH SCHOOL...
BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T
FEEL SAFE SENDING
HIM THERE.
INVESTIGATORS SAY
THE 14-YEAR-OLD
WAS HARRASSED AND
THREATENED BY
ANOTHER STUDENT
AT THE SCHOOL.
POLICE HAVE
CHARGED A 17-
YEAR-OLD CLASSMATE
IN THE CASE.
MONIQUE BLAIR
SPOKE WITH
VINEGAR...WHO
EXPLAINED THE
RACIAL REMARKS
MADE TO HER SON.
"When I stumbled
across the messages, I
was floored. I was
floored. And I was
scared."Scared because
the messages to
Denisha Vinegar's 14
year old son said
things such as "do you
know what lynch
means? Lynch means
I'm gonna hang you
because you're black
and I just might." And
"I'll hire you to pick my
cotton."
Vinegar says she fears
her son didn't come to
her with the messages
because he thought he
was at fault.
"that's what kind of
hurt me because I told
him it's not ok for
someone to talk to you
like that. My child was
scared to talk to me."
Vinegar says she
contacted the school
faculty but at first she
felt like the school
didn't do anything
about it.
"when the child was
still at the school that's
when I knew in my
heart I can't send my
baby here, I can't"
The 17 year old
Lexington catholic
student who police say
wrote these messages
was charged last week
with terroristic
threatening and
harassment. Vinegar
says there have been
some allegations made
against her son saying
he initiated the threats.
"after the tormenting
for so long, my child
did basically stand up
for himself and said
something to the
tormentor but he's not
the aggressor."
Vinegar says what her
son said to his
aggressor was not
threatening or racially
motivated.

THIS

EVERYDAY SHARES
THE IMPORTANCE OF
EATING HEALTHY
SNACKS IN ORDER TO
FUEL YOUR
WORKOUTS.
liz on cam: should you
eat before hitting the
gym? what should you
snack on after your
workout? in today's
momseveryday minute,
we have answers from
the academy of
nutrition and
dietetics.it takes a lot
of energy to run, bike
or lift weights, and
your body needs the
proper fuel to function.
working out on an
empty stomach is not
recommended so don't
skip breakfast. eating
carbohydrates before
your workout, like a
whole-wheat bagel, will
keep you going
throughout your entire
time at the gym.
if you can't stomach a
full meal before
exercise, try a fruit
smoothie or some
greek yogurt with fresh
fruit. and definitely
make sure you hydrate
with lots of water.
when you've put in the
hard work and are
ready for a post-
workout snack, reach
for some chocolate
milk, yogurt or half a
turkey sandwich on
whole wheat bread.
