We are CCX, an EBX Group company, with an integrated coal mining project in Colombia.
With two open pit mines, an underground mine, a railroad, a deepwater port located at La Guajira Department.
Canaverales and Papayal will have each of them an estimated output of 2.5 million tons a year.
San Juan will be the first longwall mine in Colombia and the largest in the Americas.
Certified resources of 5.6 billion tons of high quality compliance coal and PCI.
We launched a successful exploration campaign with the initial drilling efforts in the La Guajira region.
Highly qualified drilling companies with latest generation equipment took part in this campaign. 0:00:59.180,0:08 The efficiency of the exploration campaign was proven through its outcome. We intersected coal in every single drillhole.
We went even further.
With support from OGX, a company belonging to the EBX Group, CCX conducted the world’s largest high resolution 3D seismic campaign, for a coal mining project.
More than 1,200 kilometers of seismic lines produced detailed data,
completely covering an area of 10,000 hectares at depths of up to 2,000 meters.
All this is intended to support the resource model and the underground mine design.
This massive seismic campaign was crucial for identifying major geological faults and structures.
This task underpins the mine layout and design, allowing the coal reserves to be defined.
72 million tons of certified reserves that allows more than 30 years of production.
In order to develop the underground mines, we will construct vertical shafts for ventilation, as well as for carrying people and equipment.
All the output from the mine will be transported up to the surface by conveyor belts.
These belts will run along the massive tunnel that will be built by a latest generation tunneling machine.
Before mining activities begin, the mining area is divided into longwall panels from the central gallery or mains.
As the coal is mined, support areas are established in order to ease the strains on the panels, thus ensuring ample safety for the workers.
The mined coal falls onto a belt that conveys it up to the surface.
In order to ship the output from the open pit and underground mines, efficient rail transportation will be used, along a track 150 kilometers long.
Three trains will run simultaneously, with three latest generation locomotives.
Each train will make two trips a day, with loading and offloading cycles lasting around twelve hours.
The rail loop will have a highly efficient coal offloading system, working at rates of 8,000 tons an hour,
with a sprinkler system that minimizes emissions of particulate matter.
A dedicated deep water port able to handle cape sized vessels completes this integrated mining system.
This port will be built in the Dibulla region, selected as a deepwater area that does not require large-scale dredging.
The installation area is flat, and the platform connecting it to the pier will be three kilometers offshore.
The pier will be 450 meters long, designed for future expansion.
CCX is implementing the largest integrated mining project in the Americas to supply the increasing demand for compliance coal.
The competitiveness of CCX will allow its high quality product to reach the fast growing market in Far East.
CCX. The new force in the coal industry.
