>> Hi, I'm Ally McDonough from Boston University
and today we're talking about smoothies and shakes.
So the nice thing about this is that it's a really easy way to get a lot of fresh fruits
and vegetables into your body, and, yes, vegetables.
Basically, the smoothie that I'm making today I learned from a roommate that I lived
with last summer it's really easy and it's really, really healthy.
So you start out with a banana, which adds a kind of fruit flavor
and banana is generally a very strong flavor so when you're making smoothies
with bananas you can always watch out you sometimes can go too heavy on it.
So then 1 banana and then a whole bunch -- .

>> With baby spinach, and I know it sounds like it might be a little bit weird
but it's really delicious especially if you do like the taste of spinach.
And then I'm going to add some water just to help it all get mixed in the blender.
You can, if you wanted, add some protein to this shake you can add either some yogurt
or my roommate sometimes added peanut butter
and for some omega 3 you can add some flax seeds, so I'm going to do that.
Basically, you just put it all in the blender,
put the top on so that you don't make a mess, and then blend it together.
I'm going to start out with whip and move my way all the way up to liquify on my blender.

>> Okay, so the smoothie is done blending and that's really all it takes.
You just pour it into the glass and enjoy.
Now, I really like this for breakfast but you can have it any time of the day.
You can also make sweeter smoothies with other fruits you can use blueberries or strawberries
or mango, I also really like in smoothies.
Just feel free to experiment because you pretty much can not go wrong.
And don't be afraid to use frozen fruit or frozen vegetables if you really want.
